(UMV) Whether you are eating, driving, working, resting, or engaging in any day-to-day activity, we offer a simple tool "being mindful", to help you live 100 per cent with full of momentum and blossom mindset. We are building a village without borders where happiness is intrinsic, not dependent on the world around you.

About Us

From the forest to

the global village

Our journey has been a total success story. It began years ago in the deep quiet forest monastery. The concept that would become UMV was designed by our spiritual teacher, and a founder, Ven. Udairiyagama Dhammajiva Maha Thero. He spent over 40 years mastering Buddhist meditation being a forest monk. He had attained higher levels of practice and wanted to share it across the world.
How do you take something complex and make it accessible to everyone? Satipasala "mindfulness school" was the first initiative in this endeavour. Our Founder structured a mechanism to share this wisdom in a way that was simple, interactive, and joyful.
What started as a small local program to share authentic mindfulness practice quickly gained national and international recognition.
Today, that movement -- the Universal Mindfulness Village (UMV) -- has begun its global expansion, proving that inner peace is truly beyond all borders.

Mindfulness is a universal practice that is not limited to culture, language, or religion. The goal is to share this practice globally in an authentic and practical way. Having dedicated over 40 years to mastering meditation, I have seen that mindfulness transforms lives, strengthens families, and guides societies toward compassion and balance. Our vision is simple: to see mindfulness flourish in every home, school, workplace, and nation. We are the International Messenger for Mindfulness, bringing this ancient wisdom to the modern world.

Mindfulness is a true way of living that allows individuals and societies to discover their fullest potential. I strongly believe in the preventative approach, which is why UMV aims to bring mindfulness out of traditional boundaries and into education, professional environments, governance, and community development. My role is to ensure our programs are practical, adaptable, and impactful -- providing that holistic solution that addresses the core mindset. We teach the life skill that builds your inner immunity against stress.

  • Beyond religion The practice is absolutely universal and secular, and is meant for all human beings, irrespective of nationality, gender, or wealth, and not confined to Buddhism.
  • Joyful and simple We make complex concepts easy to absorb using an attractive and joyful mechanism, such as the “Chunky Monkey reading strategy”, where the learning process is gradual, like walking into the sea, getting deeper with sustained practice.
  • Brain capacity development When practicing our programs, it develops the mind capacity, improve the prefrontal brain functions for advance thinking and emotional literacy, and enhance cognitive skills.
  • Not-for-profit We do not sell mindfulness. We operate on a donation basis to ensure purity of purpose.
